Stained Glass Repair Before and After

May 16, 2014 by Valerie Leave a Comment

These beautiful windows were in very bad shape when I went to the house to check them out. They looked like a piece of furniture or something had smashed right into them. A big challenge in doing stained glass repairs I think is finding replacement glass to match the broken or missing pieces. I don’t like replacing glass unless it’s a very good match. Thankfully Kokomo’s Mississippi clear ripple glass was the perfect match for these windows. One of my biggest peeves about repairs is cleaning off paint from stained glass windows. Ugh!

Stained Glass Entryway Window Installation

November 29, 2013 by Valerie Leave a Comment

Stained glass window installation is a lot easier than most people may realize. Most of the custom stained glass windows I install are fitted inside the existing glass windows and held in place with wood trim painted or stained to match the interior wood. This method preserved the energy efficient seal in existing windows and is also easy to remove if the homeowner wants to take the windows with them if they move. I’ve been working with Eloy for close to six years on installations. We are a good team. I trust him with my windows – which wasn’t easy at first because they take so much time to make!

Bathroom Update Featuring Custom Stained Glass Window With Rondels And Bevels

November 6, 2013 by Valerie 2 Comments

If I were to make a window for my bathroom, this would be it. I am a huge fan of rondels and this look in particular. When I met with the homeowners, the bathroom had an octagon window with a stained glass window in it that was like a stock window with no character. They replaced the window with a rectangular shaped window and I make the glass to fit. The design was a combination of things I heard from both the husband and wife about what they wanted. The window’s clear rondels let in a lot of light and distort so they don’t need to worry about the neighbors seeing in – one of the benefits of using stained glass!

Custom Fused Glass Coasters with Omaha Photograph and Etching

September 29, 2013 by Valerie Leave a Comment

I’ve just finished making 50 fused glass coasters with an Omaha image and “Omaha, Nebraska” etched onto the front. I made the image smaller so that it wouldn’t have to be cropped. Fusing images into glass is a great way to preserve an image for a unique gift. I’ve got information and an order form on my website at http://paintedlightglass.com/custom-fused-images/
Check it out for your next great gift or keepsake!

  • I am thrilled to announce an exciting development for my business. I am moving my studio within the Hot Shops Art Center to a larger space in the front of the building with (drum roll) WINDOWS! This will be my 3rd studio space there in 11 years. The Hot Shops is like my second home. Everyday I am inspired by all the artists through their work and their generosity of spirit - from the violin maker to the blacksmith, the glassblower and the potter, the photographers and the painters. I am very blessed to be a part of their community. #hotshopsartcenter #studiomove #stainedglass #stainedglassstudio
